House 842
Project – House 842
Location – Swanmore
Scope of Works – Renovation + Extension
Across the acres of this private ancient woodland you’ll find a home for all sorts of flora and fauna, from daisies to birches and from ladybirds to deer. Amidst this landscape teeming with life you’ll also find House 842, our clients’ home. Whilst we’re no stranger to working in rural locations, as architects in Winchester who mainly work in more urban & sub-urban areas this is a pretty unique setting for us! The two-storey extension sits perpendicular to the existing house, creating an L-shaped floor plan. The new spaces created enjoy triple aspect views over the field and into the woods, ensuring the clients can feel more connected to their tranquil surroundings from inside their home. Large sliding doors lead out to a wraparound patio, encouraging inside-outside living and blurring the distinction between the two.
Also proposed in the scheme is a triple garage and an attached garden workshop & garden store, all of which is styled in a complimentary architectural language ensuring a cohesion between the two structures. The south facing roof is lined with solar panels, helping to reduce the home’s dependency on the grid and become more self-sufficient.
