House 818
Project – House 818
Location – Chandlers Ford
Scope of Works – Renovation + Extension
Set on the edge of a winding estate that’s filled with a variety of different architectural aesthetics is House 818, our client’s family home. One of the biggest changes for this home was the externals. The overall form was rationalised, and its openings were simplified, creating a frontage that feels more intentionally crafted and well balanced in its proportions. The house had existing dark accents from the dark brick quions that decorated each corner of the building. These details were repeated into the new brick work of the extension, but further complimented with dark equitone cladding and a dark powder coated aluminium cladded porch with matching metal dormers. Dark frame windows and a dark door help to tie it all together further, creating a cohesive and simple palette of materials and colours that helped elevate this home.
The home underwent a front extension, adding some much-desired space to create a more spacious family bathroom and an additional ensuite to the newly formed bedroom to the first floor. To the ground floor, space was created for a new porch, cloakroom, and family room. These modified and newly created spaces create room for the family to host guests, as well as creating more day-to-day practicality. The finishing details of the spaces were also well considered, making sure each space feels well-crafted with an elevated feel. All the way from the charming floor tiles in the entry way to the luxurious feeling large format tiles lining both the floor and the walls in the bathrooms, the house was well fashioned to the clients’ tastes.
