Project – House 795
Location – Winchester
Scope of Works – Extension + Renovation
House 795 is our client’s family home just outside of central Winchester. Our client intends to lift the existing roof to convert it into a chalet bungalow to add the much-needed room for the family to grow into. House 795 also includes an internal reconfiguration to the ground floor to create a more legible series of spaces following the removal of primary bedrooms from the ground floor. The spaces become more open plan, and the increase in glazing to the rear improves the connection to the long garden. The new roof form is comprised of two pitches and a flat roof, gaining the height desired internally without excessive height at the ridge line.
Externally, the composition of materials has been carefully chosen to compliment both the proposed chalet bungalow and its surroundings. The white painted brick is sampled from a nearby row of terraces, whilst the secondary material of light timber cladding is introduced to compliment the equally soft tones of the brick.
