House 773
Project – House 773
Location – Bransgore
Scope of Works – Renovation + Extension
Surrounded by the beautiful New Forest National Park with far reaching views over fields and heather, House 773 was lacking in glazing to take in these views. With only a couple of windows facing towards the rear, and a jumbled layout with an incredibly steep staircase, our clients wanted an open plan, functional family home. They wanted to keep the character and memories of their late grandparents’ home, and so the front is updated to create a more symmetrical façade, with a new timber porch and fresh render on the bay windows. At the rear, a double storey extension with expansive glass allows each room to have a view, more spacious kitchen and living room with more proportionate rooms upstairs. Outside, a new gravel driveway and new timber gates provide access to the rear, with the existing garage replaced with a modern garage and workshop.
Externally our clients wanted the materials to reflect its natural surroundings, and so have stayed within the palette of oak timber, white render, cedar timber cladding, red brick, and dark zinc wrapping round the roof and sides. This creates a mix of contemporary and quaint – modern at the rear and charming at the front.
