House 753
Project – House 753
Location – Winchester
Scope of Works – Renovation + Extension
Our returning clients asked for a thoughtful design approach for Project 753, as it’s a historic archaeological site in the stunning area of the South Downs National Park. As a Scheduled Monument, working with Historic England and archaeologists, extra care has been taken to restore parts of their home and extend to create more functional spaces for their family. The property has charming character our clients wished to keep, choosing to reuse as many materials as possible from the house, such as original tile flooring and doors, whilst reorganising the flow of the house to suit a busy family life.
Extensive glazing allows the new living arrangements to have framed views of the large multi-tiered garden and surrounding countryside, by introducing floor to ceiling crittall windows alongside the original oversized sash windows. Mature planting remains untouched, and minimal hard landscaping allows the new extension to sit comfortably next to the existing period home, complemented by matching brickwork detailing.
