House 737
Project – House 737
Location – Itchen Abbas
Scope of Works – Renovation + Extension
Set amid almost three quatres of an acre of land, House 737 is set in a beautiful location with a view over the expansive South Downs National Park and the tranquil River Itchen. The family home was in need of a face lift befitting its scenery and its lush gardens that features mature borders that have been dutifully maintained and sculpted over the years. The road itself, which sits on the outskirts of the sub-urban Itchen Abbas, has a rather eclectic range of properties which opened up the potential for this home to gain its own defined character.
The works undertaken included an internal reconfiguration and a small extension to the rear which also partially replaced the existing conservatory. By re-working and opening up this floor plan, a new open plan kitchen, dining, and living space was created right at the heart of the house, with a more comprehensive layout spanning out from there. Another key space that was created is the family room, which occupies the 1.5 storey attached annex. This room features a tall vaulted ceiling, creating an impressive space for the family to spend time in together. All key living spaces have a view out over the South Downs, utilising large windows and sliding doors with slim, dark frames that really allow the view to be the highlight of each space. Externally, the house has been given a contemporary touch with dark accents comprising of dark zinc cladding and dark soffits and facia which have been set amongst a mid-tone timber cladding that compliments the brick tone well.
