House 703
Project: House 703
Location: Southsea
Scope of works: Conversion + Extension + Renovation
These two dwellings, originally the main house and stable block, are believed to be among the oldest in the area. Their age and architectural merit created various historic constraints for us to work with. The client wanted to merge both dwellings into one, creating a three-storey family home. The complicated level changes throughout the existing property are simplified, creating a more accessible entrance and flowing ground floor, with a new orangery to the rear.
The two properties are opened up at first floor to create one curtilage, while an extension is added to the second floor to balance the symmetrical façade and provide space for a new master suite, with a generous dressing room and spacious ensuite. New stairs lead to a private roof terrace, flanked by the historic turret and architectural detailing.
