House 643
Project – House 643
Location – Abbots Ann
Scope of Works – Extension + Conversion
The client for this project wanted to retain the architectural character of their Grade II listed Georgian house, including the classically proportioned white rendered façade. The new black extension mirrors the existing black extension on the opposite flank, balancing the frontage in a sympathetically contemporary way. Material choices have been carefully considered to compliment the main house, while creating a clearly defined modern addition. This extension creates a spacious dining room and brings light into the property.
Additionally, the existing outhouse has been converted into ancillary living space and provides more opportunity to enjoy the client’s established garden. This new outbuilding is lime rendered with flint and slate tiles to match the existing, paying homage to the history of the property.
