For a relatively small chalet bungalow in Chandler’s Ford, this property on Sherwood Road has been redesigned to maximise every last bit of space. As the new loft space has been utilised extensively, the chalet home has stretched from a 3-bed to a 4-bed property – adding substantial value and much needed living space for our client. Widening and lengthening the kitchen space at the rear has added new ways for our client to use the newly enlarged living space and kitchen, with natural light now flooding in and creating a seamless link with the generous garden. A distinctive project detail is the cedar batten cladding, used to emphasise the new elements of the design such as the dormers and rear facing gable end. The light and warm tones of the timber battens contrast beautifully with the dark-toned roof and fenestration while allowing our clients home to sit comfortably within the street scene.
