House 591
Project – House 591
Location – High Wycombe
Scope of Works – Two-Storey Extension + Renovation
A primary concern for this project was to consolidate the disconnected layout of the existing house, as well as adding space to create a home better suited to modern family life.
We have proposed an infill extension to the rear of the property at ground floor level, allowing for a new open plan kitchen-diner and family room, and a first-floor extension to create space for a master suite and fifth bedroom. The first-floor extension sits back from the existing gable wall and the lower roof height with discrete slimline verge details ensures the addition is subsidiary to the original house.
Landscaping plays a key part in this scheme; the new garden room is connected to the main house by feature timber louvres, while the ground floor is opened up to a sunken courtyard space with fitted seating and integrated planters. This, along with the retention of existing well-established trees and planting, creates a series of private, family-friendly spaces for use all year round.
