Portfolio – House 644

February 2025

Here’s another look at House 644 but this time with a focus on the externals. The extension has an overall contemporary feel that is finished with mid-century accents, planting, and a green flat roof to soften the overall appearance and reflect the client’s unique style. Check our last post to see the internals for this project!

This week we take a look back at the interiors for House 644. The interiors were cleverly crafted to help the new additions to the cottage feel in keeping with the rest of the home, whilst highlighting and celebrate its quirks and unique features. The result is something that feels super homely and reflective of the client’s unique style and makes it a project we really enjoy looking back at!

House 742 is a celebration of the opportunities terraced houses present. By adding a rear extension, a new dormer, and re-organising the internal layout, this house feels a lot more spacious and bright. This project is fast approaching final certification and we wish the clients all the best with their new home!

Recently Completed – Hampshire

January 2025

House 643, a grade II listed house, recently completed on site! This project had tricky planning constraints which were met in various ways including the use of lime render and a flint work base. These materials were used on both the new annex and the new extension, continuing the key characteristics of the house, helping to settle both into their setting immediately whilst also giving a lovely overall effect.

Office – 2024 Look Back

December 2024

2024 marked 15 years of LA Hally Architect and this anniversary year was just as rewarding as all of those before it. As another year draws to a close, we wanted to take a look back at some of our highlights from this past year!

Houses 720, 737, 753, and 798 are all pretty much finished on site and are all looking great!

Houses 806 and 818 have started on site and Houses 803, 811, and 817 are well on their way to that stage too.

House 658 has finished its 6-month defects period and is signed off with House 742 close to follow…

We had lots of projects through planning this year from a whole variety of local councils including new build House 811, House 730 which is a conversion of five flats in a Grade II listed building back into a singular family home, and an extension to House 792, a Grade II listed barn conversion.

Many more interesting projects are also in the works including Project 820, a community village hall near Oxford, and House 826, a vertical extension to one of our previous projects!

Some great office events including evenings at Hobson’s Choice, a building tour with RIBA Hampshire, and a trip to London.

House 709 featured in Build It Magazine’s September 2024 edition and we have another feature lined up for the new year.
Our office closes from 20th December 2024 – 2nd January 2025. We have lots of exciting projects lined up for the new year so we’re looking forward to seeing what the new year will bring…

Office – Christmas Card 2024

December 2024

Happy December all! We hope everyone is starting to feel festive and that the decorations have started to go up – on the left is our Christmas card for this year which we made before we saw how the clients at House 544 had actually decorated their new staircase (picture on the right) and we think we got it pretty spot on!

Last week House 811 received planning permission from New Forest District Council and we celebrated with the clients in style with some bubbles they were kind enough to bring to the office 🥂 We just wanted to say another massive thank you to them, you made our week! This project is a 1.5 storey new build that is characterised by its timber post & beam framed gable end windows, which sit comfortably between a classic red brick which creates a replacement dwelling that feels in-keeping yet contemporary at the same time.

Now that the clocks have gone back and the evenings are growing darker, the value of having warmth and light in our homes can really be appreciated. World Architecture Day 2024

October 2024

Yesterday’s World Architecture Day was focused on the theme “Empowering the Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design”. From work experience students to those even younger, we do our best to engage with the next generation of designers. Pictured here is a one-day design challenge we ran back in 2018 with primary school children as a part of the RIBA Architecture Ambassador Scheme. They had to design, draw & model lighthouses as a team, we loved seeing what they came up with!

“We have completed a few building projects over the years, but none has given us as much pleasure as this house.  The challenge of the innovative materials and technologies along with a stunning design has resulted in an amazing property that has been a lot of fun to create.  Our sincere thanks to all involved.

LA Hally were great at bringing people together and removing barriers so the overall project would be a success. “

At LA Hally Architect we thoroughly enjoy the process of designing with the client, however it’s equally rewarding to reflect back on the kind words our clients say about us after the projects have been completed. We can help deliver projects from brief conception to completion.
