HOUSE IN WINCHESTER IVOur clients are looking to transform this split-level, upside down property in Winchester with a contemporary two-storey addition. The severely sloping plot combined with isolated first floor living spaces makes the connection between the house and the garden poor. Our proposal aims to embrace the opportunity to refocus the internal spaces and views toward the garden.
A new kitchen and study will be housed within a striking timber clad structure at first floor. This will be punctured by a series of windows, each framing a different view across the mature garden. A new external staircase below the vaulted timber clad roof structure will provide access to a hard landscaped space below.
The palette of materials has taken reference from the soundings. Up and over cedar cladding will be used to allow the new addition to develop and mature within its leafy setting.
