HOUSE IN MAIDENHEADOur brief was to upgrade this detached home by altering the existing rear extension to create a large, modern, open plan area incorperating kitchen, dining and seating spaces.
Strict planning legislation in this area required careful negotiation and inovative design to gain the desired incerase in size accross both ground and first floor levels.
The rear elevation has been opened up with two pairs of large folding sliding doors and two further areas of floor to ceiling glazing, which gives the feeling of eating outdoors.
A glass ceiling in the extended kitchen brings in maximum light yet privacy is retained due to the tall rendered wall which avoids overlooking from neighbouring properties.
The slate kitchen floor continues outside to a stepped terrace, to give a feeling of the inside and outside merging together.
