HOUSE IN CHANDLERS FORDSited in a character area, the brief for this project was to gain as much space as possible to the upper level whilst preserving the integrity of the garden.
A three-meter extension to the rear of the property creates a more symmetrical plan, with rendered masonry giving a modern feel. 8.5m folding sliding doors provide views of the well established garden, 'bringing the outside in' with an external shower to wash off muddy wellies or cool down in the summer sun. A large sky-light set above the dining table gives glimpses of the silvering cedar cladding above, whilst flooding in natural daylight.
A modern interpretation of the existing house, from the main road this home may look like any other but inside is a celebration of modern living. With no compartmentalisation, a feeling of free flow from house to garden is embraced.
